International companies at WOW 2018

Wanaka: An impressive line-up of international companies are backing the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest Warbirds Airshow – Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow 2018.

Heading up the list for the 30th Anniversary event next Easter is Principal Partner Air BP which has been involved since the first Airshow back in 1988.

Air BP initially became involved because they were the aviation refueller for the fledgling Wanaka airfield and were happy at the time to back an event which was promoting aviation.

The relationship has grown over the years with Air BP making a significant financial contribution to the event, providing on-field refuelling services while also having the opportunity to host clients.

Swiss aircraft manufacturer Pilatus Aircraft Pty Ltd will be back as a Principal Partner for the second Airshow running. Pilatus fly in guests from around New Zealand and Australia especially for the event. Pilatus have a number of clients in this country, including Sounds Air which operates a fleet of five Pilatus PC-12 aircraft.

Another big supporter of the Airshow is German shipping giant Hamburg-Sud, who along with New Zealand’s Mainfreight, look after getting significant aircraft from around the world to Wanaka.

Warbirds Over Wanaka General Manager, Ed Taylor, says without the support of these two companies they simply would not be able to afford to get some of the aircraft to New Zealand.

Hawker Pacific is another company which is returning in 2018. Hawker Pacific are hoping to bring three aircraft for display to potential buyers. Hawker Pacific are one of the leading aircraft sales and support companies in the Pacific, Asia and the Middle East. Another aircraft company which is a regular visitor and is displaying again this Easter is Cirrus.

Bremont Watch Company is sponsoring the Bremont Spitfire Tribute this Airshow. A life-long family passion for classic Warbird aircraft has led the UK-based founders of this luxury watch company to join Warbirds Over Wanaka.

Other overseas companies here this Easter are Marsh Insurance brokers, AVPlan EFB, Specialfx Supplies Limited, AIRPIX and the Australian International Airshow.

In the Aviation Trade Marquee many leading local suppliers will do business alongside international companies such as Bose and Garmin International who will have representatives from Australia at Wanaka. Bose is also on board again as sponsor of the Bose Commentary Team for 2018.
